DISPATCHING OF SKILLED EQUIPMENT COVERED BY
9.41 OF THE PCLCD
EFFECTIVE - MONDAY, JANUARY 20, 2014
In the event skilled jobs have not filled (excluding skilled jobs that can be sent to the Casual Hall), the Dispatchers shall stop dispatching all windows and read the following prior to commencing dispatch: “There are currently (number & type) jobs hanging. It is your obligation under Section 9.41 of the PCLCD to accept work in your skill category when checked in for work or while working in other categories. If you have been trained and/or qualified in the (job type hanging) you must accept dispatch to this/these job(s) today. Failure to do so shall result in removal from the qualification list of the skill in (hanging job & type), and you shall not be eligible for future skilled training programs, including promotion to Clerking and Foremen.”
If after standing by for a maximum of five minutes in accordance with SCLB-0136-2013 and the jobs still remain unfilled, the Dispatchers are to begin dispatching those identified through the dispatch system as trained in the equipment that is hanging in low board rotation.
Once regular dispatch reconvenes the Dispatchers shall notify any trained individuals that are attempting to take a basic job that skilled work is hanging and they are responsible to fill it. Those workers who refuse to accept dispatch to skilled work shall not be turned away from work but they shall be treated as a flop on their primary board. As such, that individual would have to wait until flops on their primary board are called. They are also ineligible for clerk work.
The Committee agreed that individuals shall not be subject to the flop penalty for accepting dispatch to skilled work in a higher category.
